The Snohomish Marine Resources Committee (MRC) is seeking volunteers to fill upcoming vacancies. If you care about healthy shorelines, local marine life, and the Salish Sea, we invite you to apply

About the MRC

We are a group of volunteers appointed by our County Commissioners, authorized by the U.S. Congress as part of the Northwest Straits Initiative in 1998.  Our goal is to protect and improve the marine environment of the waters of our County.  We depend on grassroots local effort to achieve our goals.

Snohomish MRC members play a meaningful role in protecting our marine environment. You'll help guide local decision-making, support hands-on restoration efforts, and work alongside partners committed to conservation, science, and community engagement.

Who we’re looking for

We encourage applicants from across the county; no marine background required. Experience in areas such as marine science, habitat restoration, fishing, shellfish, education, policy, planning, graphic design, or community engagement is helpful but not necessary.

What members do

  • Participate in monthly committee meetings
  • Help shape local marine conservation recommendations
  • Support projects in the field and online
  • Assist with education and outreach efforts
